This Vitamin is Better than ANY Vaccine and … It’s FREE

About five years ago I started Vitamin D supplements.
Since then, I have never suffered from the flu, flu-like symptoms and coughs and colds, but more importantly I’ve never subjected my body to the ravages of flu vaccines. I do care about my health, but I am not a doctor nor do I care to be one, but the fact of the matter is that increasing your Vitamin D levels – and having your levels checked through a simple, inexpensive blood test may be the easiest way to improve your overall health.
Studies show that Vitamin D deficiency is a serious common problem, especially during the winter months when sun exposure is hard to come by:
Sun exposure is the best way to optimize your vitamin D levels and thereby reduce your risk of a wide range of diseases including some of the “killer” ones such as breast cancer and heart disease. Even if you live in wintry climate where regular sun exposure is difficult, supplementing with a high quality Vitamin D3 greatly improves your overall health.
It makes sense: Most people suffer from cold and flu like symptoms during the winter months when they are not outside sucking up some Vitamin D from the sun.
A Japanese study showed children taking vitamin D3 supplements were 58 percent less likely to catch influenza A — that’s higher than any flu vaccine can claim, and the best part is that increasing Vitamin D doesn’t come with potentially devastating side effects.
Sun exposure is the best way to optimize your Vitamin D levels and thereby reduce your risk of a wide range of diseases. Most of us work indoors, so even during the summer months sun exposure can be minimal — and then when we do go out in the sun, we are programmed to slather on some sunscreen.
There a basically two types of wavelengths emitted by the sun. UVB is the healthy wavelengths that help your skin produce Vitamin D. UVA rays penetrate your skin more deeply and cause more free radical damage. UVA rays are quite constant during all hours of daylight, throughout the entire year — unlike UVB, which are low in morning and evening, and high at midday.
To use the sun to maximize your Vitamin D production and minimize your risk of skin damage, the middle of the day – between 10AM and 2PM is the best and safest time. During this UVB-intense period you will need the shortest sun exposure time to produce the most vitamin D.
You only need enough to have your skin turn the lightest shade of pink — a few minutes for those who have very pale skin Once you reached this point your body will not make any more additional vitamin D and any further sun exposure will result in damage to your skin. Fair skin will max out their vitamin D production in just 10 to 20 minutes – maybe more, maybe less. The darker your skin, the longer you will need to expose yourself to the sun to optimize your Vitamin D levels.
Chances are your doctor is NOT going to tell you to go sit in the sun — he or she will recommend a yearly flu shot instead — they don’t make any money by you sitting in the sun. And, chances are pretty good that your doctor will NOT recommend any Vitamin D supplementation — or for that matter even suggest that you should have your Vitamin D levels checked through a blood test — that is something for you to do. When he sends you to have your cholesterol checked, have him add to have your Vitamin D level checked.
Optimum level is between 50 to 70 ng/ml — less than 45 or fifty is low. To treat cancers and other problems, keep your levels at between 70 – 100 ng.ml.

And the whole SPF information out there is stieretning as well. For example, if you sunburn in 10 minutes without any sun protection and you use SPF 15 (a safe organic sunblock of course) on your skin then you multiply 10*15= 150 minutes before you start to burn. Reapplying doesn’t increase the time you can stay out in the sun, but people seem to think reapplying gives them unlimited protection in the sun. And increasing the SPF # only increases the time very little, not necessarily 10-fold.10-15 minutes in the morning sun, without protection , gives you your daily Vitamin D dose. This is a little more difficult in the winter months, but having that morning beverage on the porch swing is lovely in the spring and summer.~Laura
